Cho

Last week Jaya TV aired a show "Thirumbi parkiren" where Cho Ramaswamy looked back on his life. Cho was his usual self remarking whatever he achieved was because of his good fortune and lavished praise on his family members; Thathas, Pattis, Periyappa, Chittappa and even his eight year old granddaughter. Apart from this minor irritant the show was on the whole entertaining.

What I found most interesting were his remarks on the current state of Tamil cinema. Cho started off by saying many excellent actors have arrived on the scene. He went to name these actors as Rajani, Kamal and Ajit !

Gmail...

Over the last few days I have been getting a lot of mails in my gmail id from total strangers. Like today I have got a resume of a girl looking for a sales & marketing position from Dubai ! I started searched the tabs to see if there is one saying "This is not me" or something of that sort.

And I found this.

(Yes, this is you.) Learn more

Cool, isn't it ?

I am back !

The thought of starting to blog again has been striking me on and off for sometime now and when Ajit asked me about this yesterday, I decided "Ok, why not give it a try again ?" After all, I didn't stop blogging because I got bored of it, it was just that I couldn't find time to think abt it. And now, since I have indeed thought abt it, I've decided to take the plunge.

Warne vs Murali

Warne said:

"Murali plays most of his Test matches in Sri Lanka where they prepare wickets for him. They spin square from ball one; he's obviously got a lot more of a chance than I have," .

"Everything is in his favour, so the likelihood is that he's probably going to get the record and keep it.

"I've got three or four of the best bowlers in the world over the last 10 years (playing with me) ... (Glenn) McGrath, (Jason) Gillespie, these guys. He's got Chaminda Vaas.

"I also don't have the luxury of playing Bangladesh and Zimbabwe a lot of times."

Murali said:

"I am pleased for him. There is a sad part in this for Shane in that he did not get the record by himself, but I am happy that he has a share of it. He has been a great bowler and he deserves this."

"I would've had no qualms if he'd broken the record. It would not have been a sad day. I sense that the record may change many times between us over the next few years. Who will end up taking most wickets I don't know. Who can predict the future?"

Specialist and Generalist

Just remembered this quote. I don't know who said it but I like it. Here it is

A specialist is one who knows more and more about less and less until he knows everything about nothing. A generalist is one who knows less and less about more and more until he knows nothing about everything.

Say cheese !

This post may not go well with a few 'book lovers', but because I'm perfectly sure that only very few read my blog, I'm going ahead with my theory.

I have never believed in the so called self-help books, books that will tell you how to be successful, how to live your life, how to impress people and so on. Then, a few days before I read Who moved my cheese ? by Spencer Johnson and I realized just how true my belief is. I just can't understand the profound meaning which people claim the book conveys. For me it was just a plain dull book. May be I'm a plain dull fellow, but then I do have some company !

This is what I believe.

A truly inspiring book can come only from a truly inspiring personality. If you want a proof for this just read the autobiography of Gandhi. It surely is not an exciting book by conventional standards but then Gandhi's book brutally truthful. In every word of the book you can sense the truth and what's more, the book comes with an absolutely amazing price tag, 25 rupees ! For those who are still not convinced of buying this book, just download it from here !

A movie on Ramanujan ?

I happened to read a biography on Srinivasa Ramanujan, The man who knew Infinity. The book is simply brilliant. The amount of research that has gone into this book is just mind-boggling. I just wonder why his life has not been made into a movie till now (or has it been made already ?). Surely his life has enough drama for a hollywood blockbuster.
